Screen Paver – Create a Customized Screen Saver
Review by on
One feature Windows users have apparently been asking for is the option to set up a customized screensaver. You can easily change the screensaver by simply right clicking the desktop -> Properties -> click the Screen Saver tab -> select a screensaver from the dropdown menu under Screen saver. That’s how it is in XP anyway.

The thing is that the offering isn’t all that great. What would make things a bit interesting is if the desktop wallpaper would be a slideshow – of the user’s own images. Select a bunch of images, and they are displayed the screensaver. This way, Windows users can enjoy a personalized screen saver.

If everything I said above sounds like fun, then you need to take a look at a Michael Lindell-developed application called Screen Paver. It weighs in at less that 1MB, so downloading it should take but a moment, even on the lousiest of internet connections. The installation process goes just as fast.

Once the software has been installed on your system, you can use it to create a customized screensaver. Using Screen Paver is a simple enough endeavor. During the installation process you are asked if you would like to create a shortcut on the desktop – you can use that to access the program’s functionality. Double click it to launch the screensaver, right click it an select Configure to set up the screensaver.

The user interface is simple and easy to figure out. There are tabs at the top that provide access to all the functionality Screen Paver has to offer. Everything is nicely labeled and easy to figure out, so you should not have a problem.

You can select as many images as you would like; they will be displayed on the screen saver. But you do not have an infinite selection of transition effects. Mind you, there are quite a few to choose from, so the offering should be more than enough.

Screen Paver doesn’t like pictures alone – it also likes music. There’s the option to play music when the screen saver launches. You can play music from the CD drive, or from a directory on your computer.

Screen Paver is an easy to use do-it-yourself screen saver creator tool – that can also play music.

Pros
  • Use as many images as you want for your desktop wallpaper
  • Plays music
  • Easy to use
  • Works with all Windows versions

Cons
  • Shareware
